Take 1000 and add 40 to it.
Now add another 1000.
Now add 30.
Another 1000.
Now add 20.
Now add another 1000.
Now add 10.
What is the total?
The answer is 4100, check it out on a calculator. Did you think it was 5000? Most people add the 100 as 1000 by mistake.
A girl lives in a house with her parents. There is a cellar door in the house, and her parents warn her to never, ever, open it because she's not ready to see what's behind it.
What is on the other side of the door that her parents don't want her to see?
The girl is locked in the cellar. Her parents are both crazed people who thought the best way to protect their daughter would be by locking her in the cellar since she was born. On the other side of the door is the rest of the house, and the outside world.
You overhear a man talking to a clerk in a hardware store. The clerk says "One will cost you 12 cents, ten will cost your 24 cents, and one hundred will cost you 36 cents."
What is the man buying?
The man is buying physical numbers to nail to the front of his house. Each number costs 12 cents, and so "1" will cost 12 cents, "10" will cost 24 cents, and "100" will cost 36 cents.
You are a bus driver. The bus starts out empty.
At the first stop 4 people get on.
At the second stop, 8 people get on and 3 get off.
At the third stop, 2 people get off and 4 get on.
The question is, what color are the bus driver's eyes?
Since the riddle starts out by saying you are the bus driver, the answer would be the color of your own eyes.
